Excerpt from an catalog. Seth Thomas is perhaps the most recognized American clock manufacturer of all time. Almost everyone over the age of 40 has heard that name associated with clocks of some sort. Where other American clock companies came and went in a relatively short time period the Seth Thomas Clock Company has existed in one form or another up until modern times. Imported clocks from Germany, England and France were typically too expensive for the average American home. Because of this there was an excellent opportunity for American ingenuity to produce an affordable clock and many companies were formed based around this very idea. From the beginning of this clock manufacturing boom there were a large number of companies producing these inexpensive yet very functional and durable clocks. Many of these companies were destined to have very short lives where others like Seth Thomas, Welch, Ingraham, Waterbury, New Haven and Ansonia among others would last for many decades.

British woman survives being attacked by a shark while snorkelling off the coast of Ascension Island Image: Could not subscribe, try again laterInvalid Email This week, Brit tourists in Majorca came face-to-face with an 8ft blue shark just as an expert claims a deadly great white is circling UK waters. Terrified sunseekers on the Spanish island ran from the sea on Illetas beach when the beast appeared before it was captured and killed.
Panic hit our own shores when fishing expert Graeme Pullen claimed a great white — as seen in film Jaws — has visited Hayling Island, Hants, for two years running. With its seven rows of razor-sharp teeth and the ability to grow to 14ft, an encounter with a great white would be potentially deadly.

Identify and Date Your Antique Clock. When I first started my antique clock collection, the first thing I noticed was how little I knew about the clocks I are so many styles and types of clocks, made by so many clock makers and from so many countries, that I was totally lost.
Finding the right clock key Here we have clock keys in all the sizes available. We get many calls asking what key their clock takes and over the phone it is difficult to say what key size is needed. What can be said is most larger German movements take a number 8 key. So if your clock movement is made in Germany, is 5 x 5 square or 6 x 9, it will take a number 8 usually.
If the clock movement is made in Germany and it’s round, it’s usually number 4. If you have a 31 day clock, or a Korean clock, or a commonly produced early American time strike movement, then it’s usually number 7. However, if you want to be sure with all this then use the below chart. To turn this you would use the small end of your clock key. If the key has been lost at one point then someone could have replaced the key with a single end key instead of double.
There are many sizes and combinations for the double end key and it may be tricky to get the right size. So you may just want to get the 4 pack of double end keys we offer.
