To my knowledge, all my girlfriends have been neurotypical. It requires both parties to make huge compromises and imagine the world from a different perspective. Relationships of any kind do require compromise… and I have had wonderful, meaningful romantic relationships with women who were very different from me. But it was never easy. I often felt that I had to change myself to fit the mould of an ideal girlfriend, and this put a huge strain on my mental health. I spent many years in frustrating and miserable relationships with neurotypical men and although we did everything to make it work including therapy, trial separations, etc.
Dating on the Autism Spectrum
The first few results in Google search revealed autistic dating sites that appeared-at best-unregulated and unmanaged by anyone with knowledge of autism. The worst examples, were sites that did not seem to care about the safety of potentially vulnerable autistic people. As an experiment, I signed up for one these websites. Having registered, I was immediately shown a page full of people with autism and their profiles.

Do you do volunteer work with children or elderly? Do you often have drunk adventures that end in weird embarrassing ways? Admitted, the drunk adventures aren’t stories you want to tell to every potential partner some totally aren’t into rash decisions made while drunk , but for a lot of people they enjoy hearing about such escapades. For me, I’ve lived long term in four countries, short term in another. I go out drinking enough to have those stories for the more progressive, party-style people to listen to.
For less outgoing, more stay-at-home types, I tell stories about my childhood when my mother and father met because he was selling ducks.

Hello, Claudia – Yes, it is common for adults on the spectrum not to have a diagnosis because high-functioning autism (Asperger Syndrome) is a relatively new clinical diagnosis.
Every now and then, this Autism test for adults may contain a set of questions that are primarily experimental in nature. Though these questions will not be scored during the Autism quotient assessment, as a test taker, you will not be able to distinguish between these experimental questions and the real ones. This is done to ensure that we factor in new questions to check response patterns without compromising the integrity or the accuracy of the overall test scores.
Though the score patterns may differ from person to person, here is a rough indicator of what the scores mean The Autism test score calculation uses a complex algorithm that takes into account your age, gender and your responses to the submission. Please note that this is not a definitive diagnosis of Autism and we strongly recommend you seek independent professional opinion. Your cognitive, social and behavioral patterns seem to be fine.
